Background


APSC was founded in 2007 to promote the study of social sciences at the masters level in the Asia Pacific region. APSC supported 15 students in 2008 and 30 students in 2009. In 2008 APSC accepted only students from Myanmar; in 2009 students from Cambodia and Laos PDR were also accepted. Starting in 2011, students from Thailand are also included.

APSC partner universities included Hong Kong and Philippines universities in 2008. Starting in 2009 several Thai and Malaysian universities participated as well.

APSC graduates are currently pursuing studies at the doctorate level as well as internships and careers in public health, education, community development, capacity building, and social work.
